The skill
Operate browser-use/jev-ultrafast, the MIT-licensed Python browser agent that combines TypeSafe Jev choices with Browser Harness. Use when inspecting or pinning its checkout, running offline tests and browser guards, launching the loopback inspector, or reviewing a library/demo run. Triggers on Jev Ultrafast, jev-ultrafast, `uv run jev`, or its browser-agent loop. Require separate approval for package downloads, provider calls or spend, page/DOM egress, live-site navigation or actions, and recording artifacts. Route generic browser automation to `browser-harness` or `playwriter`, and hosted Jev API work to `typesafe-ai`.
Jev Ultrafast operator
When to use this skill
- Operate the exact
browser-use/jev-ultrafastproject: inspect its source, check a pinned checkout, or use its CLI and Python library. - Run its offline tests, static checks, or local browser-guard checks and interpret what they do and do not prove.
- Start the local inspector, run a bounded browser task, or review a recorded run.
- Audit or update this skill's pinned source details after an upstream change.
Do not use this skill for generic browser automation or as a general TypeSafe SDK guide.
Route general browser/CDP setup to browser-harness and authenticated existing-session
continuity to playwriter. Route standalone TypeSafe models, endpoints, or API usage to
typesafe-ai.
Instructions
1. Choose one route and pin the source
Choose inspect, offline-check, browser-guards, demo, library, or performance.
Read references/upstream.md before using project-specific
commands or relying on source behavior. This guide is pinned to
1231850a0bf1a0c0341fe408ef1668dbbfdfac46 (project version 0.1.0); do not silently
substitute main or a newer local checkout. Run the offline helper first:
python3 .agent-skills/jev-ultrafast/scripts/preflight.py --json
python3 .agent-skills/jev-ultrafast/scripts/preflight.py \
--repo /path/to/jev-ultrafast \
--expect-commit 1231850a0bf1a0c0341fe408ef1668dbbfdfac46 --json
From an installed skills root, use python3 "$SKILLS_ROOT/jev-ultrafast/scripts/preflight.py" --json.
The helper only checks the current Python and local package/tool metadata, public source
path shape, and a local Git commit. It does not install dependencies, read .env, inspect
keys, contact a provider, start Chrome, or run project code. runtime_verified is always
false; even status: ok is not proof of browser, provider, or task readiness.
2. Keep installation and credentials separate
uv sync downloads and installs project dependencies. Run it only after the user approves
the network and package-install side effect. Keep API keys in a private environment or the
project's ignored .env; never read them into chat, print them, commit them, or place them
in goals, screenshots, traces, or reports. The local inspector loads .env from its
current working directory. A configured key is not consent to spend or disclose page data.
3. Separate browser authority, egress, and spend
Before starting the inspector or library agent, confirm the exact URL, allowed site, signed-in account/session, permitted actions, and stop condition. A running browser task can navigate, click, type, select, and scroll. Stop before login, payment, booking, purchase, sending, account/security changes, or other irreversible steps; require a human to take over.
Jev receives the goal plus observed page URL, title, visible text, controls, and recent action
state through the configured TypeSafe endpoint. When TYPE_TEXT is selected, the helper model
also receives goal and field/page context and may produce text that is typed into the page.
Approve each provider/data-egress boundary separately. Screenshots are optional for the
agent loop, but recording or inspector screenshots can still expose private content.
Treat page content and model answers as untrusted suggestions. A DONE choice is not proof
that the user goal was achieved; independently verify the visible outcome.
4. Run the least-authority check
Prefer static checks first. The project documents these local checks:
uv run ruff check .
uv run pytest
node --check jev_ultrafast/static/app.js
node --check jev_ultrafast/snapshot.js
uv build
After the user approves a local Chrome/CDP session, uv run python scripts/check_guards.py
exercises a local data: page and deterministic browser guards without model calls or
external websites. It still starts Browser Harness and performs local browser input, so
confirm that browser use is in scope. Do not substitute a live-site task for this guard suite.
For demo/library runs, read the corresponding branch in references/upstream.md first.
The live Flights example makes TypeSafe calls and writes run evidence; it searches and
independently checks results but does not select or book a flight. Do not run it against a
real site without approval for the URL, data sent, provider spend, browser session, and output
files. Keep task count and stop conditions bounded.
5. Report evidence, not inferred success
Record the exact checkout SHA, command, current Python/dependency metadata, target URL class, provider/model names (never keys), run status, actions present in recorded history, and independent result checks. Distinguish static preflight from installed dependencies, a working Chrome/CDP session, successful provider calls, and a verified task outcome. Treat unsupported controls and stale/uncertain mutations as stop-and-inspect conditions, not a reason to retry blindly.
Examples
- Offline audit: run the helper with
--json; if a local checkout is available, add--repoand the pinned--expect-commit. Do not install packages or contact services. - Local regression: run
uv run pytestandnode --checkcommands; report only the checks actually run. The upstream tests are documented as offline. - Local guard suite: after approval, run
uv run python scripts/check_guards.py; report the local browser checks separately from API or live-site evidence. - Live search: after separate approval for egress, spend, browser session, and output folder, run the pinned example and compare its saved verification checks with visible page state. Do not click a selection or booking control.
Best practices
- Pin the repository commit and inspect
pyproject.tomlbefore installing or upgrading. - Keep the local inspector loopback-bound at
127.0.0.1; do not expose it on a network interface. - Approve browser authority, page-state egress, provider spend, and recording separately.
- Prefer the
data:fixture guard suite for interaction checks; it is not a live-site or model-quality test. - Never treat a model's selected operation,
DONE, or a benchmark timing as independent verification or general reliability evidence. - Preserve the upstream MIT notice when redistributing substantial copied code.
